Raving Reviews about “Dällebach Kari – das Musical”

After the first few Shows of “Dällebach Kari – das Musical” the reception by the press and audience is phenomenal and more than we ever could have expected. (the music department of the show: from left to right: Moritz Schneider, Michael Reed, Robert Emery and me)   Below some quotes from reviews: A Triumph of Swissness: from the red firm over the lake to the Bern March on the stage, everything fits together in the Musical about the Swiss anti hero Dällebach Kari on the Thuner Seebühne. - Der Landbote Switzerland has another dialect musical this summer – in “Dällebach Kari”, the story about the legendary hair dresser from Bern, emotions are very important. And all that in front of stunning nature scenery. -...

Dällebach Kari – Rehearsals and first shows

On July 14th we were supposed to have the premiere of “Dällebach Kari – Das Musical”, however due to bad weather forecast, the premiere was moved to Monday, July 19th. Regular shows started on July 15th so we’ve had 3 shows so far but no premiere yet :) I’ve been (except for some interruptions for Prague, London and Leipzig) in Switzerland for 4 weeks now, being at rehearsals and watching the show grow into its final shape every day. The first few shows went extremely well, we got standing ovations on every evening by approx. 2700 people (sold out every night), lot’s of cheering etc. and it is a very touching moment every evening. Also we got some amazing press reviews and media coverage with really great reports about the show...

Liebling, lass uns scheiden – Recording Sessions and lots of MP3s

There’s so much happening at the moment, that I hardly manage to keep my site updated. After I’ve scored the movie “Liebling, lass uns scheiden” during the last few weeks (parallel to going to London, attending rehearsals in Thun etc.) we went to Prague on July 6th, to record the orchestral score for the movie. This time, the music was a bit different from what we’ve done before as it incoporates a jazz quartett on many parts of the score together with a full symphonic orchestra. The sessions were great fun and we really enjoyed the playing of the fantastic Robert Balzar Trio together wit the City of Prague Philharmonic orchestra. 2 days after the session, I went straight to Leipzig to attend the mixing of the score at Genuin. Holger...

Violin Concerto for Anna Karkowska and the London Symphony Orchestra

3 days ago, I flew over to London to conclude a project that I have been working on for months now. In February I got commissioned by the great New York based violinst Anna Karkowska to write her a violin concerto which was going to be recorded with the London Symphony Orchestra in the famous Abbey Road studios. I, of course, did not hesitate a moment and started working on it right away. It was supposed to be a very filmic sounding concerto with violin and orchestra being equal partners so with this great orchestra and soloist on my fingertips, I knew I could write music that would explore the brillance of Anna and each and every player of the orchestra on different levels. The collaboration with Anna went very smoothly, I showed her ideas throughout the...
