Nachos and Cheese

After Moritz and me have been working together on so many projects already, we finally managed to set up our own website. It is still under construction and will be tweaked within the next few weeks and months as well as there will be a news section added etc but you can have a look at it already at www.nachos-and-cheese.com. We also created our own myspace profile which you can access at www.myspace.com/nachosandcheese1 and add us as a friend :)

While we were searching for stuff to put on our site we came across tapes of the scoring sessions from "Tell" from 2007. We thought it might be nice to share it with you so Moritz quickly edited a nice short making of video. Stay tuned as there are more videos to come soon.

Being an Expert

I've been working on the score for "The Expert III" together with Moritz, a 10min short movie. It is quite an action packed film with quite some intense musical moments. More on this soon. I'm also still working on the orchestration for ANNO 1404, so lots of work at the moment, so I better get back to work.

Oh, and by the way: www.nachos-and-cheese.com :)

I added quite alot of tracks from "Eine bärenstarke Liebe" to the audio section and switched to a new, more easy to use player layout. Also I added one more track from Ausbilder Schmidt I forgot to add last time :) So head over to the audio section and turn up the volume!

Mixing Done - Video uploaded - Air date known

After we finished mixing the music we recorded in Prague last week, we (actually Moritz) spent some time, putting together a small video with impressions from the recordings. I think it turned out quite nice, so have a look at it below. Also, if you want to watch the movie, make sure to turn on your TV on October 21st at 20:15 (8:15pm) on Sat1. And tell everybody else! :)

Recording Score in Prage - check; Orchestrating Anno 1404 - err... *runs off*

I'm back! Well, actually I wasn't gone for too long but on 7/8th of September I was in Prague to record the score for the TV Movie "Eine Bärenstarke Liebe". Everything went great as usual, we had quite lots of time this time so we were able to do a lot of detail work and many retakes until we thought it was a perfect recording. Just as I came back my next project started: I'm orchestrating parts of the new part of the Anno series... I'm really looking forward to this project. So, no long session report this time but only a few pictures, I need to get back to work...

Me and Moritz having fun on the Stage

Ready to go...

There was even time to take some artsy pictures :)

Bears and Computer Games

I finished work on "Eine Bärenstarke Liebe" today. I think the music turned out quite nice and I'm looking forward to the scoring sessions on September 8th. We will only have a string orchestra this time (14/14/10/10/6) plus an acoustic guitar which has been recorded already. So the style is a bit different to what we've done before.

Also I've been to the "Games Convention" again last week to check by at Dynamedion and have a chat with a few other colleagues.

Bears and Mountains

I recently started to work on the music for the TV-Movie "Eine Bärenstarke Liebe" produced by Swiss and German TV. It's a romantic comedy set in the Swiss Alps. We have the rare luck in the field of TV movies to record the music with real orchestra, so we will be heading out for Prague again at the beginning of September. I'm really looking forward to these sessions.

Passed

Good news everyone. I passed my exam with grade A and recommendation for further studies. The evening went very well except me being quite nervous but other than that, it was really cool. The orchestra did a great job as well as the BigBand. Here are 2 pictures from the evening.

Also I reorganized the website a bit so you can access articles and picture galleries easier. Just check out the small box right of this text to find direct links to everything.

Diploma

I'm currently working on the compositions for my diploma at the Dresden University of Music. In order to get it I have to write and organize a public concert. If you happen to live around Dresden, Germany, you can attend it on June 18th at 8pm at the "Kleines Haus", Glacisstraße, Dresden.

There will be performances of an orchestral piece, a Big Band piece and a piece for 4 percussionists all written by me on this evening.

Also, I got hired to score a TV movie in July/August. More details on this soon.

Back from Mixing

On Wednesday I went to Lepizig to check by at Holger Busse from Genuin who did the music mixing of the recordings we made in Prague. The mixes turned out very very good, we were very pleased with the results and also had lots of fun.

Back from Prague

Just wanted to let you know that I'm back from recording the "Ausbilder Schmidt" Score in Prague. Everything went really cool, we did some really cool recordings there and had lots of fun. I will post an extensive report with more photos really soon. But until then I need to relax a bit from writing and recording THAT much music:

On my way to Prague

Allright, I sent out the last score sheets for "Ausbilder Schmidt" to the copyist at 1am this morning. All together it's 52 minutes of music with some quite challenging cues for the orchestra including some Big-Band-like brass writing and some super evil tracks with Bass Clarinet, Contrabassoon, low Brass etc. The sessions will be on April 20th and 21st, we're recording 2,5 Sessions with the Orchestra on sunday and half a session with a soprano choir on monday, so yeah, that means 10 hours of extreme concentration on saturday. Quite a task for everybody. Still, I'm really looking forward to it as there are alot of cues that should be lots of fun recording. We will have a bigger line-up this time than with "Tell", 77 musicians including a nice epic 14/12/10/8/6-string section and a 20-piece soprano choir. That's gonna be fun :)

I will post a report about the sessions when I'm back.

Frontline News

I'm currently extremely busy working on the score for "Ausbilder Schmidt - Der Film" out in cinemas in fall. The score is quite challenging as it has alot of very short cues and also quite a bit of mickey-mousing comedy scoring. However there are some really cool tracks to come including some western variation of the main theme and emotional military stlye tracks with solo trumpets and such things. I'm really looking forward to the scoring sessions which will take place in Prague in April. We'll be there for probably three days, recording the orchestra on the second and a soprano choir on the third day. Until then... lots of work ahead so I better get back to the score sheet. I'll keep you updated.

Here's a still from the movie, so yeah... you'll kinda get the idea what this movie is about :)

Scoring "Black Prophecy"

From January 28th-29th the recording sessions for the score of "Black Prophecy" took place in Frankfurt/Oder. I orchestrated about half of the score and attended the scoring sessions on January 28th. Everything went great, the stage sounded beautiful and the orchestra did a really good job on a few quite challenging tracks.

The game will be out in stores at the end of 08 so make sure to get it :)

Here are some pictures from the scoring.

All the best

Robin

BigBand concert and "Black Prophecy" Recordings

On February 9th, one of my BigBand pieces will be played in concert in Dresden. If you happen to be in town, make sure to be at 8 p.m. at the "Kleines Haus",Glacisstr.

Also, I will be joining the recording sessions for "Black Prophecy" in Frankfurt/Oder at the end of January, for which I have orchestrated a part of the score. I'll keep you updated about how it went afterwards.

All the best

Robin

Good news everyone!

I added a new fancy flash player to the audio section an put up some more tracks. There's a whole playlist with tracks from "Tell" which was the last feature film project I worked on. The tracks were recorded in Smecky Studio Prague with the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra in April/May 2007. Most of the pictures that you can see on my website were taken during these sessions.

The movie was just released on DVD so make sure to watch it :)

All the best

Robin
