“Dällebach Kari” – The Musical – Production Blog

In a few weeks, the multiple award winning musical DÄLLEBACH KARI which I co-wrote will have its premiere in the EWIGE LIEBI Theater in Berne/Switzerland. I’m very happy to announce that DÄLLEBACH KARI – THE MUSICAL, which I co-composed will be shown in Berne/Switzerland from September 26th till December 30th 2012 in the “EWIGE LIEBI Theater”.   If you happen to be in Switzerland at that time, make sure to get a ticket at HERE.

I’m very proud to announce that our musical “Dällebach Kari” has won this year’s Prix Walo as best musical and theatre production. Also, Hanspeter Müller-Drossaart, who played the Dällebach Kari in Thun and Zurich has won the prize in the category “Best Actor”. I’m really proud of what we achieved and about the great reception for our musical. The “Prix Walo” is the most important award in the Swiss entertainment world and is called the “Swiss Oscar”. On March 17th, our musical “Dällebach Kari” had its premiere in Theater 11 in Zurich where it will be shown 8 times a week from March 17 till April 10th. We had to manage a challenging transition from the big open air stage into a indoor theatre. I’m very proud of how well the show turned out and the reactions of the audiences and press confirm that our musical not only works well with the impressive nature background from the Thuner See which we had last summer. The show itself is pretty much the same as it was in Thun, there were only a few changes in the cast, the main one being a new Alcohol played by Ethan Freeman who gives this role a new character. After the live recording CD of the original cast of our musical “Dällebach Kari” has been available for a few weeks and made a chart entry in the Swiss Album charts already, I’d like to present a few excerpts from this CD here. I’m very proud to announce that our Musical “Dällebach Kari” was this year’s big winner of the “Goldene imScheinwerfer”, winning in 4 out of 8 categories. It won the awards as “Best Musical”, “Best World Premiere”, “Best Main Actress” and “Best Musical Stage”. The winners of these prizes have been determined by the results of a voting by the audience and a jury. Our musical got 61% of the votes as “Best World Premiere” and has been favourited by the critics as well. On August 28th we had the last show of “Dällebach Kari – das Musical” at the Thuner Seespiele which was of course a very sad moment for everybody as we all enjoyed the show so much and had so much fun during the last weeks. But apart from having the last show in Thun, there is no reason at all to be sad. With over 76,000 sold tickets, we set a new record for the Thuner Seespiele. No production since the show started in 2003 brought so many people to the stage and we got so much response from the audience that this was the best show they’ve ever seen at the Seespiele, so we are of course very proud! Half of the shows of Dällebach Kari – Das Musical are played already and the show seems to become the biggest success for the Thuner Seespiele ever. Never before at this time, so many tickets have been sold (more than 70,000 so far) for any show. Every show gets standing ovations and the audiences reactions are just amazing. We’re all very pleased about how this musical is embraced by the audience and the good news are: there are already negotiations of bringing the show to other locations. Another good news is that there is going to be a CD release with all songs from the show very soon, check by at thunerseespiele.ch to get updates on that.
