Dällebach Kari – Half of the tickets sold already + Updates

After quite some time another update regarding Dällebach Kari – The Musical. The show is on its way and it looks like it’s going to be a very successful year for the Thuner Seespiele as half of the more  than 70000 tickets for the show are currently sold already (3,5 months before the first show) which is a new record for the Thuner Seespiele (even better than their most successful show “West Side Story” two years ago). Of course we all are very pleased about this amazing result and are all very happy about the great reception of the Swiss people as well as the very nice media coverage the show receives in Switzerland. Main rehearsals will start shortly and I’m really looking forward to going back to Thun and seeing it all come...

Recording Session in Prague

Recording Session in Prague

I went to Prague today for a short orchestral recording session in the Smecky Studios.  We were recording 2 more songs from “Dällebach Kari – das Musical” with full orchestra and additional guitar, bass guitar, drumkit, accordion, and saxophone which turned out really great and the score for a tv commercial which was great fun to score in a very Elfmanish style. It was a very rare opportunity to record the music for a TV commercial with full orchestra but I think it was worth it. I will let you hear the results as soon as they are finished :) Meanwhile I’m also working on another great project of which I can’t talk about currently but it takes almost all of my attention at the moment (as you can see by the long no-updates time) and...

»Posted by on Jan 30, 2010 in "Dällebach Kari" - The Musical - Production Blog, News |

I’m currently (once again) in Switzerland for our Musical “Dällebach Kari”, which will have its premiere in July. We’re currently doing a workshop with the main cast and some extras in a rehearsal stage right in the office building of the “Thuner Seespiele” close to the lovely lake where the outdoor stage will be located in summer. We’re rehearsing the songs and working on the script, “shaving off the edges”, bringing the songs into shape for inserted dialogues, walking time etc. pp, ready to present a “workshop” version of the musical on February 6th. The workshop is lots of fun, we’re working with a great team and a great cast and we all enjoy it very much and have lots of fun. Finally...

Scoring Session Video from Musical Recordings in Prague and Routines in Salzburg

»Posted by on Dec 14, 2009 in "Dällebach Kari" - The Musical - Production Blog |

Finally I can present you with a video of our last trip to Prague where we recorded a few of the songs for our musical with big orchestra conducted by Michael Reed, our Musical Supervisor. After that we went to Salzburg to meet up with our director Andreas Gergen to do the first routines, which means, bringing the songs into a shape for the stage, adding breaks for scenes, deciding who’s gonna sing in the songs, finding places for reprises and shaping the songs so they’re fitting into the dramatic frame of such a show. On the second day in Salzburg, our main actor for Dällebach Kari, Hans-Peter Müller-Drossart joined us, so we all could get a feeling of his tone of his voice and his singing style. Watch the video...

The last few days I spent in London together with Moritz and Christian Struppeck (who does the Musical development of “Dällebach Kari”) to meet up with Michael Reed (who’s our Musical Supervisor) to discuss about the structure of the show and the songs and to incorporate scenes, dialogue passages into the songs as well as deciding over reprises etc. We had a very constructive meeting and all finally have more and more the feeling that the show is coming together very nicely and gets a coherent shape.
