Today we went to Thun to watch the current production of the Thuner Seespiele, “Jesus Christ Superstar”. We watched it from inside the orchestra pit and had the chance to have a look around at the location which will show our musical next year.
The location is absolutely beautiful being built into the Thuner Lake while at good weather conditions, you can see the 4000+ m high Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau Mountains right from there. Around the stage there is a whole area with bars, restaurants etc being decorated according to the topic of the musical. The whole stage is mobile, being built every year from the scratch in this location. So the whole “Backstage” Area is somewhat special, too, walking over bridges over the water etc. We got there around 45minutes before the show started so everybody was extremely busy and we successfully managed to stand in the way :)
The whole sound and light system is state-of-the-art, being very often mentioned in the press etc as sounding absolutely fabulous. So, we got pretty nice conditions ahead of us for realizing a cool musical next year :)
We spent the evening in the orchestra pit, which is made of glass so the 2000 people in the audience can see what is going on in there. As in most orchestra pits for musical orchestras, space is pretty precious so we sat kinda squeezed between woodwinds and brass which was a very loud experience :)
We will be returning there next week, rehearsing and recording a cue from Dällebach Kari which will be played as appetizer for next year at this year’s last show.
I’ll keep you posted.
Below, some impressions from the location.
All the best
