A Father’s Job

Short Film (Echofabrik, 2020, Germany)
Winner of Multiple Awards for the Score

Recorded with FILMharmonic Orchestra, Prague

In 2020, I had the pleasure of writing the score for the ambitioned short film “A FATHER’S JOB” by Frank Christian Wagner. It is a family story set in Germany during the times of World War II which deals with the psychological implications and consequences of families being torn apart.

The score was recorded with the FILMharmonic Orchestra in Prague and has been released on all streaming platforms on October 22nd, 2020.

I used a very specific line-up and seating to transport the different layers of memories and perception, playing with left/right and far/near effects in the music.

The movie is currently doing the festival rounds with incredible success. It won multiple awards, including five for the score (Independent Shorts Awards – Best Original Score, Long Story Shorts – Best Original Score, Venezia Shorts – Best Original Score, European Cinematography Awards – Best Original Score and Hollywood Gold Awards – Best Original Score). It is also nominated at the most prestigious short film festival LA Shorts which is an Oscar qualifying festival so we’re keeping our fingers crossed.
